Neeraj Chopra Current Personal Best throw is about 88.07 m which is his own National Record at the Indian Grand Prix 2021. Breaking his own record of 88.06 m at the 2018 Asian Games and won a Gold Medal. He was the 2016 IAAF World U20 Champion and set the world junior record, of 86.48m. 

In the Year 2018, Neeraj Chopra won Gold Medals in three Competitions at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia, the Sotteville Athletics Meet in France, and the Savo Games in Finland.

Neeraj Chopra was born on 24 December 1997 in a Ror Maratha family from Khandra village, Panipat district, Haryana. Neeraj’s mother, Saroj Devi, is a housewife and he has two sisters. Neeraj developed an interest in Javelin at the tender age of 11 after keeping an eye on Jaiveer (Jai Choudhary) who used to practice at the Panipat Stadium. Jaiveer is a Javelin athlete who represented Haryana. Neeraj Chopra Height is about 5 ft 10 in.

Neeraj Chopra Early Life

Neeraj Chopra was born on 24 December 1997 in Khandra village, Panipat district, Haryana. And He is 24 years old. Neeraj Chopra was born in Ror Maratha family and his religion is Hindu.

Neeraj’s father Satish Kumar is a farmer in a tiny village of Khandra in Panipat, Haryana. His mother, Saroj Devi, is a housewife and he has two sisters. Neeraj developed an interest in Javelin at the tender age of 11. Neeraj Chopra completed his Graduation at DAV College, Chandigarh and Kurukshetra University, Haryana.

Neeraj had faced difficulty in traveling from his home to the stadium due to the lack of public transport in his village, instead, he would take lifts from the passing vehicles for a 16-17 kilometers journey to reach the training ground. He later shifted his base to the Athletics Nursery at the Taluka Devi Lal Stadium in Panchkula because of the lack of proper infrastructure in the Panipat Stadium.

Neeraj Chopra was inspired to play Javelin throw when he was at the tender age of 11 after keeping an eye on Jaiveer (Jai Choudhary) who used to practice at the Panipat Stadium. Jaiveer is a javelin athlete who represented Haryana.

Dollops of fresh Cream and Choorma (Haryanvi Food), a fat-friendly mix of roti, ghee, and sugar, fed by a doting grandmother meant Neeraj stepped into his teens chubby and flabby. Weighing 80 kg when he was only 11, Neeraj’s introduction to javelin happened by chance during his visits to the Panipat Stadium in his bid to lose weight.

Neeraj’s Uncle decided to sent Neeraj to sports. When he grew up watching athletes playing javelin throw Neeraj decided to take the game to the next level.  In 2014, Neeraj bought his first Javelin worth Rs 7000. Later at the international level, he purchased a javelin worth Rs 1 lakh in the national camp he attended.

In the Year 2016

Neeraj Chopra won a Gold medal at the 2016 South Asian Games with a throw of 82.23 m, where he equaled the Indian national record.

 In the 2016 IAAF World U20 Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland Neeraj won a Gold medal and set a World Junior Record also. Despite this Neeraj failed to qualify for the 2016 Summer Olympics.

In the Year 2017

In the 2017 Asian Athletics Championship, Neeraj won another Gold Medal with a throw of 85.23 m.

In the Year 2018

In the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Neeraj won a Gold Medal with a throw of 86.47 meters and became the first Indian to triumph in Javelin Throw at CWG.

In May 2018, At the Doha Diamond League Neeraj again broke the National record with a throw of 87.43 meters. In the same year, Neeraj was awarded the Highest sports award Arjuna Award after winning a Gold medal in CWG 2018.

In the 2018 Asian Games Neeraj won a Gold medal and again set a new NAtional record with a throw of 8.06 meters.

On 5 March 2021, Neeraj Chopra again broke his past National Record setting the new one at 88.07m, with a World Leading position in 2021.
