Smriti Mandhana was born on 18 July 1996 in Mumbai to Smita and Shrinivas Mandhana. At the age of 2, her family moved to Madhavnagar Sangli in Maharashtra where Smriti and her Brother Sharavan Mandhana (Former district-level Cricketer) completed their Schooling. Both her father and brother played cricket at the district level, for Sangli. Smriti was inspired to take up cricket as her game after watching her father and brother play at the Maharashtra state Under-16s tournaments. And then she started playing cricket. Smriti at the age of Nine was selected for the Maharashtra U-15s Cricket Team at the District-Level and when she turned 11, she played for Maharashtra U-19s Cricket Team in 2007.

Mandhana’s family is closely involved in her cricketing activities. Her father Shrinivas, a chemical distributor, takes care of her cricket program, her mother Smita is in charge of her diet, clothing, and other organizational aspects, and her brother Shravan still bowls to her in the nets.

Domestic Cricket Career: At the age of Nine Smriti started playing Cricket. Her first breakthrough came in October 2013  when she became the first Indian woman to achieve a double-hundred in a one-day game. Playing for Maharashtra against Gujarat, she scored an unbeaten 224 off 150 balls in the West Zone Under-19 Tournament, at the Alembic Cricket Ground in Vadodara.

Smriti scored three half-centuries for India Red in the Women’s Challenger Trophy in 2016. She was the tournament’s highest scorer, scoring 62 from 82 balls in the finals to help her team to secure the trophy against India Blue.

She and Harmanpreet Kaur were the first two Indian women to sign for the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL). In January 2017, she was injured while playing against the Melbourne Renegades. She scored 89 runs in 12 innings during this competition. She fell awkwardly while fielding after bowling the final ball of her over hurting her knee. She was ruled out of the rest of the tournament.

In June 2018, Mandhana signed for Kia Super League defending champions Western Storm, becoming the first Indian to play in the league.[14] In November 2018, she was named in the Hobart Hurricanes’ squad for the 2018–19 Women’s Big Bash League season.

International Career: Smriti after making her One Day Internationals debut in 2013 in a match against Bangladesh, Mandhana made her Test debut against England at Wormsley Park in August 2014, by scoring 22 and 51 runs in her first and second innings respectively she helped her team to win the match.
