Early Life
Simone Biles was born on 14 March 1997 in Columbus, Ohia. She is one of four children, all of whom were reportedly taken into foster care at a young age. Despite the early uncertainty, Biles and her sister were eventually adopted by their biological grandparents. She joined her first gymnastics class aged Six and began her lightning-quick ascent into the US history books. Her grandmother started playing an active role in her upbringing in 2000, and during this period Biles grew up in the suburbs of Houston, Texas. Raised in a Catholic home, Simone maintained strong roots in Belize while growing up, as her mother is Belizean. To this day, Simone Biles holds Belizean citizenship.

Gymnastics Career
Junior Gymnastics
Simone started Gymnastics training at a very early age when she was only six in a day-care field and, she remained there for 11 years under the direction of her Coach Amiee Borman. Biles began competing as a level 8 gymnast in 2007, and by 2011 she had cemented her standing at the junior elite level.
- In 2012, she won first place all-around in the US Classic held in Huntsville, Texas where she placed first in vault, second on floor exercise, third on balance beam, and fourth on uneven bars. This win qualified her for competition at the 2012 US National Championships in St. Louis, Missouri.
- She then competed at the 2012 US Classic in Chicago where she won first place all-around, bagging first place in vault, second place in floor exercise, and sixth place on the balance beam.
- Her performance during the 2012 US National Championships placed her third all-around, winning first in vault, sixth on floor exercise, balance beams, and uneven bars. This led to her selection as part of the United States Gymnastic Junior Team.

Senior Gymnastics
- In 2013, her first year as a Senior competitor in 2013 American Cup, the 4-foot 9-inch (1.45-meter) Biles won the all-around title at her first World Ggymnastics Championships, becoming the first African American woman to claim the title. She also prevailed in the floor exercise, earned the Silver medal in the vault, and took home the Bronze medal on the balance beam.

2016 Olympic Games
On August 9, 2016, Biles led the U.S. women’s gymnastics team to win the gold. She earned an impressive 15.933 in the vault, a 15.3 on balance beam, and 15.8 for a crowd-pleasing floor routine in which she performed “the Biles,” her signature move comprised of a double layout with a half twist. The powerhouse gymnast shared the victory with Raisman, Douglas, Hernandez, and Kocian, a team known as “The Final Five.”
In 2017, Simone Biles Did not Compete. she co-wrote an autobiography with journalist Michelle Burford, Courage to Soar: A Body in Motion, A Life in Balance. Biles said, “I want people to reach for their dreams and there are so many people who have inspired me with their love and encouragement along the way and I want to pass on that inspiration to readers.” The book hit number one on The New York Times bestsellers Young Adult list the week of January 8, 2017, and was turned into a Lifetime biopic.
At the 2018 U.S. national championships, she became the first female gymnast in nearly 25 years to win all five events, including a record-setting fifth all-around title. Biles became the most-decorated female gymnast in world championships history when she won four golds (including another all-around title), one silver, and one bronze at the 2018 championships to bring her career total at that competition to 20 medals.
